Small bathroom ideas

[:en]Leaving aside the exceptions, the bathroom should have two main characteristics: to be a space in which you like to spend a lot of time relaxing and a place that helps you get ready fast without any discomfort. Therefore, probably the time most spent in a bathroom is closely related to to the two moments of the day: morning and night. If in the morning you are under pressure not to be late to a meeting, or the begining of a new day, in the night, for sure, there is another rythm and not just because you are exhausted of the day just finished, but because you can allow yourself more time to your „rituals”. In this phase, the bathroom most probably has to be a place of relaxation where you can go and release all the pressure gathered in that day. If it fits you, you can even create an atmosphere using candles, ambiental music, essentials oils and salts.

Whatever the solution and no matter the way you choose to use it more often, this room should be one that fits a lot of things: towels si bathrobe, hygienic products, skin and hair products, hair/shaving machines, candles, salts and oils, maybe even detergents and few others. All of them are necessary and you cannot give them up. And, most of them you want to have in handy in the same place so you don’t have to move to other room. All these wouldn’t be a problem if you had a spacious room where you can bring in all and you still have plenty of room to move around. But, if we talk about a small bathroom in which, with all these, you have detergents, so the idea of running around inbetween rooms in the rush of the morning is not as good as you might expect. And even the moments of relaxation don’t seem so tempting in a busy and claustrophobic space.

There are, of course, design and creative solutions for small bathrooms as well. You must, first of all, create deposit spaces. The more, the merrier. You must take in consideration that these deposits need to be discret and in pure harmony with the entire space so that it won’t disturb the design of the bathroom and to not create the feeling of claustrophobic. One good solution can be to create niches in the walls, hidden cabinets by mirrors or compact surfaces, desguised by the color of the walls.

You can use the space above the toilet or the one above the door. These are areas usually considered useless, but can be creatively valued. With a little bit of imagination, your bathrrom will look not only well-organized but –aesthetically-organized.

Lights and mirrors can have a big impact as well to create the idea of a bigger space. Lights are very important, but, if you can make a not so small window on one of the walls, then, for sure, your bathroom will look a lot more spacious. Mirrors have the power to open new perspectives and the bigger they are, the more they will amplify the space.

Therefore, a small bathroom doesn’t have to be seen as a problem, but rather as a challenge for the creativity.
