Myth or reality: „An interior designer will propose expensive solutions”

[:en]An interior designer will provide personalized services. This is a crucial aspect because it should be read as “will provide the best solutions for the identified needs”. That means that, despite common concern, it is not all about making a space look more appealing, whatever costs or efforts. Specialists in interior design are not only concerned with aesthetics. Their abilities stretch far beyond this aspect and cover areas as: enhancing comfort by exploiting the functional potential of the space, creating a relevant concept which can fit the limits of the budget and of a specific timeframe.

The budget, just like time constraints, is one of the most important aspects of a project, be it interior design or otherwise. But if you are on a budget, this is precisely why you must work with professionals. Professionals will help you discover and implement the best possible solution so that you won’t have to try over and over again either correcting, or adjusting, but definitely wasting precious time and/ or money.

How will an interior designer help you save money rather than spend them:

  • by taking responsibility for the project and letting you take care of your business – it might not seem as a big contribution, but reflect over it a little bit more. An interior design project can take a lot of your time and focus, leaving less for what you are currently involved in, and this consequently will affect the efficiency of you current job and, in the end, most probably, your revenue;
  • by helping you design and follow a phased plan – trying to do everything at once will only cause problems, in order for things to be properly done you need good time management and good cash flow management and an experienced professional will know what to do and when to do it, to avoid all potential problems;
  • by avoiding rooky mistakes and making sure that things are done right at the first try – this goes back to the previous point, except that this time is about knowing how to do things to guarantee a good quality result;
  • by offering a correct estimation “price vs. value” of objects and materials – an inexperienced buyer might be tricked by the assumption that “the best quality comes with a high price”, a professional will know what to choose in order to get your money’s worth
  • by choosing the most reliable suppliers – engaging professionals at all levels of the project is another benefit you will gain by working with an experienced interior designer
  • by proposing inexpensive original and creative solutions as substitute for potential expensive items, like repurposing items you already have or taking a DIY approach for the decor
