Let’s make a Christmas to remember!

[:en]And here we are, at the end of 2015. How many of us are having in-between thoughts? Thoughts about how 2015 was and how 2016 will be? I know for sure we do! In the same time, December is that time of the year when we get together with family and friends to celebrate both the end and the beginning, a moment full of wishful thinking and positive mindset. It is the moment when we forgive and enjoy what we have.

With that positive mindset, let’s jump into one of the most beautiful moments of this celebration – home decorating. A big part of enjoying Christmas is having Christmas dinner in a celebrating environment. And this year, we’ve come up with some daring ideas. We hope to inspire you as we got inspired when writing this article. So gather your family around the Christmas tree and let’s have a good time.

We decided this year to stand out from the ordinary and go crazy colors with decorations.  Get away from the well-known white-and-red decorations. Pantone Institute of Colors took a chance and talked about gender equality in choosing their next year’s duo colors. So why not take a chance in our decorations as well? Rose Quartz and Serenity are the winners of 2016. These two colors “demonstrate an inherent balance between a warmer embracing rose tone and the cooler tranquil blue, reflecting connection and wellness as well as a soothing sense of order and peace. Rose Quartz is a persuasive yet gentle tone that conveys compassion and a sense of composure. Serenity is weightless and airy, like the expanse of the blue sky above us, bringing feelings of respite and relaxation even in turbulent times.” (Pantone Institute of Color)

Do not be scared! We are not telling you to make your home soft pink or baby blue. You have plenty of options to use these two colors.  And we will help you throughout the entire process.

First, you have unlimited options in talking about finishes – you can go crazy with matte, metallic or glossy. Play around with them; combine them, free your mind and you will be surprised of the outcome. Use splash or sparkle to create that dreamy atmosphere you go for. Just be careful in mixing finishes with different colors. If you use different finishes, make sure you keep the colors in the same shade or make a strong contrast between soft and deep, dark colors. For instance, if you go for soft pink glossy globes, you can combine them with dark blue/purple/black matte globes.

People tend to be afraid of contrast, because, let’s be honest it is not the safest of grounds, while keeping it safe in the color shades seem the easiest way out. Of course, we are all different (Thank God!). It doesn’t mean one is wrong and one is right. In today’s world, we have the freedom to experience and discover ourselves, and this is what we are trying to do here as well. To encourage you to discover yourself through a safe environment; at the end of the day, if you are not happy with the outcome, you can just easily change the Christmas globes and problem solved.

Coming back to our decoration theme (I guess our minds are floating around between decorations and life ideas)

The beauty of these two color shades is that you can play with them and integrate them in your interior without having to change too much or without appearing kitsch. Add some new pillows on the couch and a soft blanket. A vase with few tree branches together with small Christmas globes and your dining table is ready to bring together all family members. For those of us who are crazy brave, we recommend changing the color of the wall behind the Christmas tree and the entire room changes itself.  Use mason jars and fill them with colored pinecones. Put the Christmas lights behind a soft shade of blue curtain or hang few decorations on your ceiling lamp and here we have a house ready to receive Santa Claus!

So many ideas come up when you open your mind towards them, so let’s enjoy this Christmas with our family and friends in one decorated space meant to be remembered!

P.S. We would love to see some of your decorated ideas, if you like to share with us!
